Isaac M. Haldeman was the pastor of the First Baptist Church of New York City for half a century. He was also a visible figure in the very early fundamentalist movement, but little is known of him. This book is the text of a sermon that he preached at the World Conference on Christian Fundamentals, held in Philadelphia during the last week of May, 1919. This was the meeting that launched the "World's Christian Fundamentals Association" under the leadership of W. B. Riley. The WCFA is the progenitor of interdenominational fundamentalism as a distinguishable movement. The published volume of sermons from the meeting contains only an outline of this presentation, so this volume makes a genuine contribution. It shows Haldeman as a classical dispensationalist, though one who brought his own twist to that theology. Historians of both fundamentalism and dispensationalism will find this book a fascinating read, as will modern-day believers in a premillennial Second Coming and a pretribulational rapture.Product details
